5th Mediterranean Conference

EN – EUROPE & THE MEDITERRANEAN: SOLIDARITY, PEACE, COOPERATION

The parties that met in Cyprus for the 5th Mediterranean Conference of the Left affirm the imperative to respect the peoples’ right to self-determination as an essential condition to achieve peace and social justice.

We believe that as long as the United States maintains its imperialist bias, with the complicity of the European Union, none of the urgent problems of the region will find a viable solution. Therefore, we oppose militarisation, imperialism and all other forms of authoritarianism in the region.

Water is, and must remain a common good; we condemn the theft of this vital resource and denounce all actions by companies and political authorities that seek to exploit or steal it at the expense of communities.

We will actively participate in left-wing and progressive forums, seeking opportunities to advance our causes.

Les partis qui se sont réunis à Chypre, à l’occasion de la 5ème Conférence méditerranéenne de la Gauche, affirment la nécessité impérative de respecter le droit des peuples à l’autodétermination. C’est une condition essentielle pour parvenir à la paix et à la justice sociale.

Tant que les États-Unis, avec la complicité de l’Union Européenne, maintiendront leur biais impérialiste, aucun des problèmes urgents de la région ne trouvera de solution viable.
C’est pourquoi nous nous opposons à la militarisation, à l’impérialisme et à toute autre forme d’autoritarisme dans la région.

L’eau est, et doit rester, un bien commun ; nous condamnons le vol de cette ressource vitale et nous dénonçons toutes les actions des entreprises et des autorités politiques qui cherchent à l’exploiter ou à la voler aux dépens des communautés.

Nous participerons activement aux forums des forces de gauche et progressistes, afin de créer des opportunités en faveur de nos causes.
