Workers Over Profits!

Defending Workers’ Rights: No to Deregulation, Yes to Fair Business Practices

The push for deregulation in the European Union threatens hard-won protections for workers, trade unions, and the environment. The European Public Service Union (EPSU) and the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) have made it clear: dismantling corporate accountability laws benefits big business at the expense of people and planet.

As industries pressure the European Commission and national governments to roll back regulations, workers and unions are fighting back. Deregulation will not stop corporate abuses; instead, it will erode essential protections enshrined in the Corporate Sustainability. Due Diligence and Corporate Sustainability Reporting directives. These laws are mant to ensure companies are held responsible for human rights violations, environmental harm, and exploitative labor practices. Weakening them would be a betrayal of democratic principles, prioritizing corporate profits over public interest.

EPSU and ETUC demand the full implementation of these directives, rejecting any dilution that serves private interests over collective well-being. This is a fight for social justice, fair labor standards, and a sustainable future. The EU must stand firm against deregulation and uphold the rights of workers, trade unions, and communities.
