UK: Corbyn and Sultana Launch New Left-Wing Party

Your Party, Your Future: A New Kind of Politics for the Many

Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana, both sitting MPs and prominent voices on the democratic socialist left, have co-launched a new political initiative—Your Party (provisional title)—aimed at transforming Britain’s political landscape from the ground up. Within a week, 500,000 people had already registered with the party, which is currently in the process of founding. Rooted in trade unions, communities, and grassroots movements, the party seeks to give power back to working people through radical, participatory politics.

The project was introduced through a co-signed founding statement, with both MPs declaring:

“It’s time for a new kind of political party. One that belongs to you.”

The statement frames the movement as a response to a rigged system—one in which millions live in poverty while corporate profits soar and the government prioritises war spending over welfare.

A Clear Vision: Redistribution, Public Ownership, and Peace – From its outset, Your Party has laid out an unflinching agenda. The founding statement condemns economic inequality, government complicity in war, and the erosion of public services. It calls for:

  • Mass redistribution of wealth and power
  • Taxing the richest
  • An NHS free from privatisation
  • Public ownership of energy, water, rail, and mail
  • A mass council housing programme
  • Climate justice through a Green New Deal
  • An end to arms sales to Israel, and a free and independent Palestine.
  • The statement sharply rejects scapegoating of migrants and minorities, arguing that the real crisis lies in an economy built for billionaires.

Mass Support and a Democratic Structure – Momentum for the new movement has been immediate. Corbyn reported that over 500 people per minute were signing up on launch day. The party’s final name, leadership model, and key policy priorities will be decided democratically at a founding conference later this year, in what Corbyn describes as a bottom-up process of building something new.

“It’s democratic, it’s grassroots, and it’s open,” he said in a launch interview. “This is going to be very different. And you know what? It’s going to be fun.”

The launch has been welcomed internationally. Walter Baier, President of the Party of the European Left, sent a personal message of congratulations to Corbyn and Sultana:

This is a step of exemplary importance for the European Left in times of genocide, which is taking place in Gaza before the eyes of the world public, and the increasing danger of war… I wish you all every success – in the interests of the British working class and all working people on the continent and worldwide.”

What Comes Next? The party plans to stand candidates in the 2026 English local elections, and is already collaborating with local independents and open to cooperation with the Greens. It aims to unite a wide base of progressive voters—especially those disillusioned by Labour’s rightward drift.
