Turkey: SOL Party’s Conference
On 5 October, we had the honour of participating in the General Assembly of SOL Parti, a member party of the European Left Party in Turkey.
We had the opportunity to speak before more than 500 people — young students who are organising themselves, and older citizens who have defended freedom in Turkey, even at the risk of their own liberty.
The struggle for democracy in Turkey is an essential struggle for the peoples of Europe. In the face of far-right governments, we must build processes of resistance that enable us to fight and create a popular alternative.
The SOL Parti is a beacon of hope in Turkey — a country facing high inflation and poverty, but also one with a strong tradition of struggle and organisation that can inspire the rest of Europe.
The European Left must rebuild from the ground up — from local struggles and from working-class realities. The Party of the European Left is committed to this task, with clear proposals, coordinated efforts, and a vision for a peaceful, just, and united Europe.
In this journey, the SOL Parti and the Turkish left are essential allies. Together, we can build a real alternative to reaction and neoliberalism.

FORWARD on the Way to a United Opposition to Defeat the Reactionary Regime!
Under the political Islamist regime, Turkey has been pushed into a process of decay and destruction, in which the last achievements of secularism and democracy have been eliminated, the most basic rights of the people from education to health have been destroyed, young people have been dragged into futurelessness, and workers and pensioners have been dragged into misery. This reactionary regime, which was dragged in the swamp of the Greater Middle East, is wanted to be reconstructed on ethnic and religious foundations that are compatible with the Middle East order shaped by the US-Israel partnership. The AKP and MHP alliance sees these impositions of America as an opportunity to maintain their power. This order, which has made the elections a show with Trump and American support, wants to pave the way for Erdoğan to become president for life term.
For this reason, existing regime supporters declare everyone who has s an objection as an enemy; and try to suppress all social resistance by surrounding the opposition from four sides. On the one hand, the social opposition is suppressed by the pressures on the CHP, and on the other hand, the Kurdish movement is wanted to be drawn into the backup of this new regime by manipulating the longing for a solution and peace in the Kurdish problem.
The Palace, which tries to annule and end Republic and declare the end of the history of the Republic, will not be successful. The great danger of perpetuating this reactionary regime will be eliminated by fighting with a united opposition approach. The impositions of imperialism will definitely be nullified. All the efforts of the ruling bloc are in vain. All kinds of relations and alliances established around the palace, “special permits” obtained from the White House, are not greater, more justified and stronger than the will of the oppressed peoples to get rid of this reactionary regime. The united will of struggle, which has grown street by street since March 19, and the revolutionary resistance accumulations of this country are strong enough to overthrow this reactionary regime.
Forward on the Path of United Opposition!
At this historical juncture where the fate of the country will be determined, our responsibility is to put an end to this one-man regime that the overwhelming majority of the people are against. It is clear that this struggle cannot be achieved through an election process alone. The struggle ahead is far beyond the limits of replacing a party or person with another.
A broad opposition front with very different tendencies, but around the goal of putting an end to this regime; It can be developed with an understanding that sees all the thresholds of struggle ahead as a referendum. All opposition forces of the country; young and old, men and women, Alevi Sunnis, Kurds and Turks, all the oppressed; A united opposition understanding in which all social initiatives, organizations and parties will unite and protect the future and destiny of the country is the most vital need of today. The dominant imperialist policies can only be frustrated with such a united understanding of struggle. This is the way to put an end to this darkness that drags Turkey into a regime without elections and opposition.
It is our call.
In line with this goal, the SOL Party; It will develop and create the grounds for a united opposition in every field in order to create common grounds between all opposition forces, organizations, parties and social struggle initiatives, to increase the unity of struggle and action, and to unite different social organizations.
In addition to this broad front struggle, the decisive goal of the coming period is to turn the resistance tendencies of the people into a united force and to transform the struggle of the youth, women and laborers into an organized people’s movement. In this direction, the creation of new organizations based on grassroots initiatives is the most basic task set by the Left Party.
SOL Party 3. The Ordinary Conference has been a meeting of hope and the future, which has made the goal of ending this regime clearer and the determination to fight on this path sharper. With this hope and determination; We are moving forward to increase the struggle street by street, to increase unity and solidarity, to put an end to this reactionary regime and to establish a more equal, free and fraternal country!
Our conference has determined as its historical and primary responsibility to organize a united opposition against the attempts to transform our country into a reactionary regime based on religious and ethnic identities. With this determination, we will continue a united struggle that will frustrate the reactionary regime transformation plan imposed on Turkey in the new Middle East order of America and Israel; We are taking action to organize together with all the opposition forces of the country, all revolutionary resistance centers, especially youth and women, and millions of oppressed working people.

- Our call is a call to fight together to frustrate the disaster scenarios that the imperialists and their reactionary-fascist partners have dragged our country into.
- Our call is a call to unite on the path of the revolutionary refoundation of Turkey.
- We will win, we will build the future together!
