Stop Fascism!
STATEMENT
European Left – Attila Vajnai, Member of the Political Secretariat
Editorial Note
On 29 October 2026, Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed two agreements in Washington, one of which strengthens police cooperation and intelligence sharing against what the two governments describe as violent far-left organisations, including Antifa Ost. The talks also reaffirmed Hungary’s commitment to NATO’s 5% defence-spending target.
The agreement has raised concerns about its potential implications for anti-fascist movements and political freedoms. Attila Vajnai, a member of the Political Secretariat of the Party of the European Left, responds with a statement entitled “Stop Fascism!”

STOP FASCISM!
During the meeting between Hungary’s new Foreign Minister, Anita Orbán, and Marco Rubio, an agreement was signed under which the Hungarian side commits itself to taking action against organisations it considers to be extremist, anti-fascist or left-wing. Among other objectives, the agreement also guarantees an increase in military spending to 5% of GDP.
Left-wing and anti-fascist organisations had previously warned of the dangers posed by the new Hungarian government’s policy of seeking favour with Trump. These dangers are now clearly evident, for example, in Hungary’s support for maintaining the unlawful blockade against Cuba at the UN General Assembly.
In the current situation, we demand a ban on Nazi marches and neo-fascist organisations, the repeal of Hungary’s so-called “Antifa law”, and the termination of proceedings against anti-fascists.
We condemn the policies of the far-right Trump administration, the blockade against Cuba, the killing of civilians, including many children, and the persecution of refugees.
Fascism is a monstrous offspring of capitalism; therefore, the entire system must be replaced in order to eradicate the roots of fascism for once and forever.
