European Left demands immediate cessation of hostilities in the Middle East

The Iranian missile attack on Israel proves that our warnings against a conflagration of war are correct. The EL condemns the attack as an irresponsible step towards escalation and calls for an immediate and comprehensive cessation of hostilities. The world is on the brink of a regional war with the danger of uncontrollable global expansion, as the USA is also militarily involved. The European Left has condemned the massive Israeli attacks on Lebanon with more than a thousand civilian casualties. These attacks are also ostensibly directed against Hezbollah, but as in Gaza, it is mainly civilians who are affected by Israel’s indiscriminate bombing and expulsions, a brutality that is the result of the racist and far-right policies of the Netanyahu government.
The EU must no longer turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed by Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank and to the thousands of civilians fleeing from them. The EL demands a ceasefire and a withdrawal of the Israeli troops from Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon. We reaffirm our solidarity with all the people being victims of the war and demand that the European Union recognize the Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.
