European Forum 2025, Vienna: United for Peace, Social and Climate Justice

After Marseille (2017), Bilbao (2018), Brussels (2019), Online (2020), Brussels (2021), Athens (2022), Rivas Vaciamadrid (2023) and Budapest (2024), this 9th edition of the European Forum of Left, Green and Progressive forces took place from October 31st to November 2nd 2025 in Vienna.

During 3 days, left, greens and progressives, from political parties, trade-Unions and civil society organisations exchanged, debated and worked together to formulate, and fight for an alternative, fairer and greener solutions to the crises facing Europe.

This 2025 edition brought together 183 people from 72 organisations from 29 countries !

The Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) welcomed the Forum to their headquarters, and give the participants greeting at the opening session, together with representatives of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, the Communist Party of Austria, Palestinian Ambassador to Austria, and of course, the Party of the European Left (which initiated the European Forum).

Many speakers gave inspiring speeches on the fight against austerity, the consequences of rising military spending on public services, the housing crisis, the democracy, the women’s rights, the defence of peace and the situation in the Middle East, as well as good practices for youth organisations working with social movements.

The projection of the movie We Are Migrantswas a strong moment to discussion about the migrants situation in Europe, followed by an exchange with the movie director.

On Saturday evening, participants came together in a warm and friendly atmosphere for a quiz organised by Junge Linke on the history of the Austrian left.

The participants agreed on a Final Declaration that will be a guideline for the collective work until the next European Forum in 2026.
