EU-Israel association agreement must be suspended
Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice‑President of the European Commission, announced yesterday (Tuesday, 18 June 2025), during the European Parliament Plenary Session, that the EU Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers will discuss the review of the EU–Israel Association Agreement next Monday.
As is well known, Article 2 of the EU–Israel Association Agreement links cooperation to the observance of human rights in both domestic and foreign policy.

Walter Baier, President of the Party of the European Left, commented:
In the meantime, even Kaja Kallas has had to acknowledge that there is a humanitarian crisis in Gaza caused by Israel—one that cannot be justified by Israel’s right to self‑defense.
The outcome of the deliberations can therefore only be one:
- the suspension of the Association Agreement until Israel withdraws its troops from Gaza and permits unrestricted access for humanitarian aid.
