Right to Housing. Now and Forever.
Housing is not a privilege. It is a right. And it’s time to write it into the European Treaties.
As one of our main political priorities, the European Left supports the European Citizens’ Initiative “Right to Housing! Now and Forever” – and we call on every party, individual member and follower to sign and share it.
Why now?
Rents are soaring. Workers can no longer afford the cities they build. Young people are stuck at home. Buildings sit empty while people sleep on the streets. The market puts profit before people and planet. This is not inevitable – it is a political choice.
What the campaign calls for:
– Regulate short-term rentals and vacancy.
– Invest public money in affordable housing, not speculation.
– Protect tenants and keep people in their homes.
– Recognise the right to housing in the EU Treaties.
The campaign needs 1 million signatures by September 2027. Every signature counts. Every share matters.
