SUMMARY:Win the Future - Fight Austerity – Stop Militarisation
DESCRIPTION:The 8th Congress of the Party of the European Left will culminate in a public event “Win the Future – Fight Austerity – Stop Militarisation” on Saturday\, 18 April from 16:30 CET. \nIn a context of growing global uncertainty\, the Congress will bring together leading progressive voices from Europe and beyond to share analysis\, develop strategies\, and reaffirm commitments to social justice\, workers’ rights\, and demilitarisation. It serves as a key platform for international solidarity and political exchange. \nLivestream: Available via https://www.youtube.com/live/QubQO9LqsNQ  \nMedia accreditation is required in advance via this link. \nModeration by Anastasia Iampolskaia and Daniel Sierra Suarez\n(Coordination of the EL Youth Network – ELYN) \n16:30 – 17:00\nDisarm to Win the Future: Stop Militarisation\, Building Collective Security\n· Peter Mertens (General Secretary\, PVDA-PTB\, Belgium)\n· Megan Romer (National Co-Chair\, Democratic Socialists of America\, USA)\n· Jeremy Corbyn (Member of Parliament\, United Kingdom)\n· Amal Jadou Shakaa (Ambassador and Head of the Mission of Palestine to the European Union\, Belgium and Luxembourg) \n17:00 – 17:30\nMake the Many\, Not the Money: Working Class Rising to Fight Austerity\n· Claes-Mikael Ståhl (Deputy General Secretary\, ETUC\, Sweden)\n· Janina Böttger (MP\, Chairperson of Die Linke Saxony-Anhalt\, Germany)\n· Fabien Roussel (National Secretary\, French Communist Party)\n· Rena Dourou (Member of Parliament and former Governor of Athens\, Greece)\n· Simón Maljevac (Minister of a Solidarity-Based Future\, Slovenia) \n17:30 – 17:45\nConclusions by the President \n18:30\nLes Voix Errantes – #Gaza Edition \nGaza Edition is a participatory performance created in solidarity with Gaza\, adapted from the original format Les Voix Errantes developed by Medeber Teatro and Radio NFO. While the classic version invites participants to record words encountered in their own urban environment\, this special edition shifts the focus toward the urban memory of the Gaza Strip\, through the voices of four Gazans. Their testimonies evoke the streets\, places\, landscapes\, and spaces of life and remembrance that shape their relationship to their land. \nThe performance is built around a collective listening experience\, during which the audience is invited to engage actively with these narratives. Participants may come on stage to sit around tables and contribute to a shared drawing on a large canvas\, or remain seated while observing the artwork take form. A live video feed projects the drawing process in real time onto a screen\, allowing the whole audience to witness the solidarity mural emerging as a collective space of memory\, attention\, and storytelling. \nThe project aims to resist erasure through imagination and counter-narrative\, keeping Gaza’s memory alive when rebuilding remains impossible. Rooted in respectful solidarity\, the artists seek not to appropriate the struggle but to amplify Palestinian voices. Created for Antifascist April 2024 and first presented on the 204th day of the genocide\, the performance remains painfully urgent.

SUMMARY:International Forum for Peace 2025
DESCRIPTION:Explore more HERE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are less than 90 seconds to midnight. \nGenocide in Gaza. War in Ukraine. Escalation in the Congo. Bombs over Yemen. Bloodshed in Sudan.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe world is drifting toward total war — if we do not act now to prevent it. \nIn June\, the Hague will host the 2025 NATO Summit\, with its members preparing commitments to boost defence spending\, ‘ReArm’ the old continent\, and expand NATO’s global influence. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNATO General Secretary Mark Rutte has vowed to make the Hague Summit “a real success\,” promising US President Donald Trump that it will “project American power on the world stage.” \nTrump and his NATO allies have already made clear what they hope to do with that power: pursue the dominance of “Western civilization” across the planet\, and enrich themselves along the way. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSo as they prepare for war\, we must prepare for peace. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe rapid rise of militarism on the Atlantic calls on us to build a global movement behind a common vision of dialogue\, diplomacy\, and sovereign equality among nations. \nThat is why — on 23-24 June\, exactly fifty years from the signing of the Helsinki Accords — peoples from across the world will gather in Brussels for the International Forum for Peace with an objective to: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n— Develop new diplomatic strategies for conflict resolution across the world \n— Forge a coalition to oppose the rise of military spending on both sides of the Atlantic. \n— Agitate for the immediate closure of foreign military bases on European soil. \n— Challenge the narrative of a new Cold War that seeks to divide the world into irreconcilable blocs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n— Promote the policies of welfare\, not warfare to deliver social and economic justice. \n— Rejuvenate the movement for nuclear disarmament among all nuclear powers. \n— Renew the principles of the Helsinki Accords on the occasion of their 50th anniversary.
