El Partido de la Izquierda Europea felicita al compañero Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, que ha sido confirmado como Presidente de Brasil por tercera vez.
El resultado conseguido es fruto de la movilización popular y de la unión de todas las fuerzas políticas y sociales a la izquierda de Bolsonaro. La victoria de Lula es la confirmación de que ganó la democracia, ganaron las luchas sociales contra la desigualdad y el fascismo.
Este triunfo reafirma el avance de los gobiernos progresistas en la región y reabre el camino para la consolidación del proyecto de integración latinoamericana iniciado con la CELAC y para relanzar la UNASUR y el MERCOSUR. Una victoria reconocida a nivel internacional por muchos jefes de Estado y de gobierno, a partir del presidente estadounidense Joe Biden.
A pesar de esto y de que Jair Bolsonaro, sin hablar de la victoria de Lula, ha afirmado que cumplirá con el mandato constitucional para llevar a cabo la transición del cargo presidencial, nos preocupan las situaciones de violencia que se están dando en las últimas horas en el país por los afines a Bolsonaro que piden la intervenciòn militar y un golpe de estado en Brasil, sin que la Policía Federal intervenga.
El Partido de la Izquierda Europea pide que se pongan fin a estas situaciones, condenando la ambiguedad de las declaraciones del actual Presidente y cualquier tipo de intentona golpista. Solicita que la transición de poder se lleve a cabo de forma pacífica y a través de los cauces constitucionales respetándose la voluntad emanada de las urnas que han ratificado la victoria de Lula con una ventaja de más de dos millones de votos.

The EL congratulates President Lula
The EL congratulates comrade Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who has been confirmed as President of Brazil for the third time.
The result achieved is the fruit of popular mobilisation and the union of all political and social forces to the left of Bolsonaro. Lula’s victory is the confirmation that democracy has won, that social struggles against inequality and fascism have won.
This victory reaffirms the advance of progressive governments in the region and reopens the way for the consolidation of the Latin American integration project initiated with CELAC and for the relaunching of UNASUR and MERCOSUR. A victory recognised at the international level by many heads of state and government, starting with US President Joe Biden.
Despite this and the fact that Jair Bolsonaro, without speaking of Lula’s victory, has affirmed that he will comply with the constitutional mandate to carry out the transition of the presidential office, we are concerned about the situations of violence that have been occurring in the last hours in the country by Bolsonaro’s supporters who are calling for military intervention and a coup d’état in Brazil, without the Federal Police intervening.
The EL calls for an end to these situations, condemning the ambiguity of the current President’s statements and any kind of coup attempt. It calls for the transition of power to be carried out peacefully and through constitutional channels, respecting the will emanating from the ballot boxes which have ratified Lula’s victory with a lead of more than two million votes.
