The Party of the European Left, we support today as always the commitment of President Juan Manuel Santos and the FARC-EP to hold firm the flag of stable and lasting peace deserved and claimed by all Colombians. At the same time we are very worried about the difficulties involved in implementing the Final State Agreement, nowadays in particular with a focus on compliance with the Amnesty and Pardon Law, which is one of the fundamental Laws for the construction of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace, so necessary for the release of political prisoners.

The announcement of the opening of a dialogue between the government of President Nicolás Maduro and the representatives of the opposition, supported by UNASUR and of the presidents Lionel Fernandés, Martín Torrijos and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, together with the mediation of Emir Paul Tscherrig, the representative of the Vatican, crashed with the rejection of the most extreme wing of the opposition.


The 2nd Meeting of Heads of State and Government of the member countries of the European Union and Community of Latin American and Caribbean States will take place on 10 and 11 of next June in Brussels on the topic “Shaping our common future: working for prosperous, cohesive and sustainable societies for our citizens”.

The European Left Party sends its most warm congratulations to Frente Amplio’s candidate Tabaré Vázquez for his victory this Sunday against the candidate from the right Luis Lacalle Pou. It will be the third consecutive government for the Frente Amplio (FA - Broad Front), having also obtained the majority in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

The Party of the European Left (EL) expresses its firmest condemnation after the heinous murder of Robert Serra and his companion María Herrera. Serra was a member of the National Assembly for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and its Young Branch.

Maite Mola, invited by the Government of Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, will represent the Party of the European Left (EL) in the Encuentro Latinoamericano Progresista 2014 (Progressive Latin American Meeting) that will begin on Monday, September 29, in Ecuador.


Le séminaire organisé par le Forum de Sao Paulo du 30 juin au 2 juillet à Rio lance la création d'un Observatoire des gouvernements de gauche en Amérique latine. Trente intervenants de onze pays, ministres, responsables politiques et chercheurs, ont partagé pendant ces deux jours leurs analyses et questionnements.


Forum of Sao Paulo and the Party of the European left were encountered in the XVII ° FSP meeting which took place in Managua, Nicaragua. On this occasion two regional forums reaffirmed their willingness to strengthen their relations and have discussed the possible forms of cooperation on common interest topics.
