The Party of the European Left salutes de commitment expressed by the National Government of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) on the past 23rd of June, to proscribe “the use of weapons in the exercise of politics and work together to achieve a national consensus in which all political, economic and social sectors engage in an exercise of politics in which the values of democracy, the interchange of ideas and civilized debate prevail”.
This Wednesday, the 7th January, France, its republican values coming from "Les Lumières" (Enlightment), has been struck wholeheartedly through the barbarian attack against the newspaper Charlie Hebdo by a military trained commando justifying ifs criminal gesture as a "vengeance for the prophet". The defeat of the Greek government coalition in today's final vote for the election of the President of the Republic leads the country to snap elections in 25 January. This is a defeat of the extreme austerity policies imposed on the Greek people by the troika, in accordance with the authoritarian governance of Samaras's government.
Monday, Samaras' government announced early presidential elections in Greece before the end of December.
