Alternative summit to the 4th World Water Forum in Mexico
Mexico. Today over 1.4 billion people do not have access to drinking water. Over 20.000 people were demonstrating against the privatisation of water on March 16th in Mexico and an Alternative Summit to the 4th World Water Forum was organized by the Mexican civil society. Social Movements criticized the former three World Water Forums for being in favour to privatisation on water and demand a fundamental right of access to drinking water.
As part of the Rallies in the Defense of Water, COMDA, together with international organizations, was organizing the International Forum in the Defense of Water from the 17th to the 19th of March in the Sindicato de Telefonistas de la República Mexicana.
