„GegenBANKENmacht“! “Against the power of banks”. European cultural event and music festival on January 15th at the “Volksbühne” in Berlin
Dear Friends, dear Comrades,
in particular all of you already preparing for the commemoration of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht on January 15th, 2012. This year there will be another reason to come to Berlin at this Sunday in January –
For the first time in 2011 a “European Culture Meeting” was quickly set up in the “KOSMOS”. It was a complete success but unfortunately many were refused admission due to overcrowding. There was the call for repetition.
Was it “RAGE against the Capitalist Machine” in 2011, we become more specific with this years experiences and begin this once with the banks: “Against the power of banks” will be our slogan for 2012. We particularly consider this day a reaction to the call of Mikis Theodorakis and Manolis Glezos to the people of Europe, to defend themselves against the dictatorship of the financial markets. We want to strengthen ourselves, give us courage and to unite!
The Party of the European Left (EL) and the party DIE LINKE thus rented a whole theatre for Sunday, January 15th 2012: The Volksbühne at the Berlin Rosa-Luxemburg place will open its doors at 2 p.m. – perfectly timed for all those coming from the commemoration in Friedrichsfelde. There will be catering at the foyer, for all those wanting to brace themselves for what is up at this day:
At 3 p.m. starts a political-artistic event with Oskar Lafontaine, Pierre Laurent, president of the EL and head of the French Communist Party, Gesine Lötzsch and Klaus Ernst, the chairs of DIE LINKE speaking.
The new left mayor of Milano, Giuliano Pisapia , will call for a european cultural initiative. And: There will be short performances of Quilapayún , the great musicians from Chile and from the legendary Dutch group Bots, as a pretaste for the big evening concert.
At 7 p.m. will be a festival of music – with Quilapayún and the singer Camila Moreno, with the Bots and the group “Neues Glas aus alten Scherben” (New glass from broken pieces) , thus continuing the aim of Rio Reiser. The, despite all attempts not suppressible satirist and cabaret artist Henning Venske, is given a stage and will play the word juggling part at the concert.
The audience will consist of left party activist of all Europe because the executive board of the EL will hold its first meeting in 2012 meeting at this weekend.
The afternoon event will be for free – for the evening concert the box office is open since December 1st – selling tickets in advance sale for 15 €, reduced for 12 €, at Sunday for 17 €, and with the “Berlin-Pass” for 3 €. Tickets are sold daily from 12 to 6 p.m., at January 15th from 6 p.m. You can buy tickets anytime online!
Here you can download an E-card – use it and spread the word, come with your friends, your children and grandchildren!
We are looking forward to seeing you and a January 15th 2012, that is not only in the morning under the sign of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht!
