Working Group on Energy and Climate Policies
The European policy on these issues is leading to a catastrophe. Worldwide the five biggest energy companies are richer than the banks today. Energy supply companies act in favour of the shareholder value and not in favour of the needs of the society and the environment. Therefore democratic control over the energy policy is one of the key issues.
The climate change is coming and a battle for resources will start. A complete change of the attitude towards energy consumption is needed. The “capitalistic way of live” is not sustainable. That’s why the EL created this working group to show that there are alternatives in the field of “alternative energies”, to fight against so called “clean and save atomic energy” and to point out the important relations between energy, security and democracy.
