Trade Unionists
On 11 November 2006, 26 representatives from 11 European countries and 14 political parties came together in Berlin to create a European Network of Trade Unionists. The participants were not only representing the European political left, but also the trade unionist left.
The aim of the EL network of Trade Unionists is to exchange information and experiences gathered through struggles in the different countries, and to strengthen the cooperation of trade unionists in Europe.
Main working issues of the network include:
Public services and privatisation.
Deregulation, especially the struggles against poverty, deregulation of the transport sector, temporary employment, working time legislation, the struggle against the Bolkestein Directive, and ambivalent self-employment.
Migration and the equal treatment of foreign workers.
Precarity, with a special focus on women.
