Freedom and Civil Rights
The European Left has acquired a key competence in issues such as peace and social policies. Therefore, the EL decided to work even more intensively in these fields, especially on fundamental freedom and civil rights, by creating a working group on these issues.
The working group discusses numerous questions, including social progress, freedom, the role of civil society, peace and the social state. At the same time, it is constantly in search of new political issues to tackle, thereby trying to get the balance right between already existing debates and often forgotten ones, such as on the conditions under which social rights should be claimed.
